With the Great Singapore Sale (GSS) season coming up and the rise in numbers of people turning to online shopping, the Singapore Retailers Association (SRA) wanted to develop a method for tech-savvy shoppers to do their shopping conveniently and yet still be able to enjoy the experience of browsing through their favourite stores. From there, the app GoSpree was born. All consumers have to do is download eCoupons on attractive deals and redeem them in stores. Exclusive flash deals can also be unlocked by scanning QR codes outside participating stores. Since the launch of the app on 9 June, the number of brands collaborating with GoSpree has reached an astounding number of 180 and many retailers are tapping on the learned successes of their industry peers to leverage the mobile app as an additional retail channel for sales without the need to develop an app themselves.
